UpQuote — Last updated June 8, 2026
UpQuote is a word puzzle game from Red Brilliance LLC. It does not show ads, does not use third-party ad tracking, and does not require an UpQuote account. Most game data stays on your device. Some data may be processed by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or Sentry to check and restore purchase access, provide platform cloud progress sync, share aggregate gameplay statistics, support player-facing achievements, or send crash reports. If you contact support or use Progress Recovery, Red Brilliance may receive support details described below.
UpQuote stores gameplay and preference data locally so the game can resume where you left off. This may include:
If cloud progress sync is enabled, UpQuote writes a progress backup through Apple Game Center or Google Play Games Services. The synced progress payload includes progress data such as pack progress, daily progress, favorites, hints, pack order, tutorial completion, compatible in-progress board state, and sync metadata. Cloud sync is used only to restore and merge your UpQuote progress across your own devices.
If you ask support to help restore lost progress, UpQuote can generate request codes and diagnostic bundles from Settings. Support diagnostics may include a support ID, request code, app version and build, platform, timezone, cloud sync status, compact quote-catalog information, recent support snapshot summaries, bounded sanitized progress snapshots, and applied recovery audit summaries.
Support diagnostics do not include your email address, screenshots, raw database dumps, purchase mutation data, or full recovery-code blocks. Snapshot recovery may include compatible in-progress board state only when you explicitly initiate diagnostics. Manual support grants do not include tile state and do not emit gameplay analytics.
Support recovery can add or restore player-visible progress, favorites, tutorial completion, and support-authored completed runs. It keeps existing local progress and does not unlock paid packs, grant purchases, or repair RevenueCat, App Store, or Google Play entitlements. Restored progress syncs to cloud only if cloud progress sync is enabled and available; applying a support recovery code does not turn cloud sync on automatically.
UpQuote includes an optional "Share gameplay stats" setting. It is on by default and can be turned off anytime in Settings. When enabled, UpQuote reports best-effort aggregate counters through Google Play Games Events on Android and public CloudKit aggregate counters on iOS. These counters help Red Brilliance understand pack progress, Daily play, hint rates, replay completions, and coarse solve-time buckets so we can maintain puzzle balance and app quality. If the relevant platform account or service is unavailable, UpQuote skips the report. It does not show Play Games, Game Center, or iCloud sign-in UI solely to collect gameplay statistics.
Gameplay statistics do not include quote text, board state, tile moves, exact timestamps, exact solve durations, app-level user IDs, install IDs, local database IDs, favorites, search text, purchase data, or cloud-save payloads. On iOS, board-tuning counters may include a standard pack name and stable bundled asset quote ID so aggregate solve, hint, and solve-time bucket rates can be matched to a catalog board without sending quote text.
Public CloudKit counter records are aggregate app data, but CloudKit may retain platform account metadata in record system fields, such as creator or last-modified user record IDs. Turning off aggregate gameplay statistics stops future Play Games Events and CloudKit analytics calls and does not queue data for later backfill. It does not disable cloud progress sync, purchases, crash reporting, or player-facing Game Center achievements.
On iOS, UpQuote may report Game Center achievements for pack progress and Daily month completion when Game Center is available. Achievements are player-facing progress features tied to your Game Center account. They are separate from aggregate gameplay statistics and are not controlled by the Share gameplay stats setting.
UpQuote offers optional one-time pack purchases. Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play billing and managed in the app through RevenueCat. Red Brilliance does not receive or store your payment card details. Apple, Google, and RevenueCat process purchase identifiers, product identifiers, entitlement status, device or app identifiers, receipts, and related purchase events needed to unlock and restore your packs.
When crash reporting is enabled, UpQuote sends crash and error diagnostics through Sentry to help diagnose and fix problems. Crash reporting can be turned off in Settings. When enabled, reports may include:
We configure Sentry not to send default personally identifying information and to mask text and images in diagnostic attachments.
If you save an UpQuote image to your photo library or share an image through your device's share sheet, that action is handled by your operating system and the apps or services you choose. Red Brilliance does not receive a copy of the generated image through those features.
We use the data described above to provide gameplay, save and restore progress, unlock purchased packs, report player-facing achievements, diagnose app errors, respond to support requests, understand aggregate gameplay trends, and maintain UpQuote. We do not sell personal data and do not share data for advertising.
If you email our support or privacy contacts, Red Brilliance receives your email address, message, and any details you choose to include, such as device type, operating system version, app version, purchase context, support request codes, diagnostic bundles, screenshots, or progress descriptions. We use those messages to respond to your request, troubleshoot UpQuote, and provide support recovery when appropriate.
UpQuote uses these third-party services for app functionality:
We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or third-party gameplay analytics services such as Firebase, Amplitude, or Mixpanel.
Local progress remains on your device until you erase it, uninstall the app, or your operating system removes app data. Synced progress remains in your Apple or Google account until it is overwritten, erased through UpQuote while cloud progress sync is enabled and connected, or removed through the platform's account controls. Purchase records are retained by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat as needed to provide purchase history, restore access, and comply with their legal obligations. Aggregate gameplay counters are retained by Google Play Games Events or CloudKit according to platform and Red Brilliance settings. Support request state, diagnostic summaries, and recovery audit summaries are retained as needed to provide support and prevent duplicate recovery-code use. Crash reports are retained according to Red Brilliance's Sentry retention settings.
UpQuote does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app is designed for a general audience and does not include accounts, social features, user-generated content, or advertising.
You can erase local UpQuote progress from inside the app. If cloud progress sync is enabled and connected, the erase-data flow also erases synced UpQuote progress. If cloud sync is off, cloud data is not contacted. You can disable aggregate gameplay statistics and crash reporting in Settings. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at the address below.
If we update this policy, the revised version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any changes.
